Awesome Tabletop Wargaming Events

Come for the games, stay for the community

July 10th, 2024

Dear Warhammer Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we write to you today to announce the wind-down and spin-off of our beloved Tabletop Alliance. Seven years ago, driven by a shared passion and a desire to reinvigorate the Warhammer community in the Netherlands, we embarked on this incredible journey. At that time, the community was in dire need of revitalization, and together, we have managed to build something truly special.

From our humble beginnings as the Generals of the West gaming club, our events grew in scale and reputation, becoming a staple brand within the Warhammer community in the Netherlands and Europe (and even a bit in Hong Kong đŸ˜‰ ) We are proud to see our gatherings reach up to 500 players and cross-over 10 different game systems, and we were honoured to host the Age of Sigmar World Cup in Amsterdam not once, but twice in the last two years. By the end of this year, we can proudly say that we have had over 5000 visitors attending our various events.

The COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges, forcing us to adapt and shift our efforts to digital platforms. Despite the physical distance, the support and enthusiasm from all of you remained unwavering. It was your dedication that kept the spirit of our community alive during those tough times.

As life has gradually returned to normal, we have restarted our in-person events, cherishing every moment spent with each of you. However, as our personal and professional lives have become increasingly demanding for our original founding members, we have found it challenging to dedicate the necessary time and energy to maintain the high standards we set for our events.

After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors as Tabletop Alliance. This decision was not made lightly, and it comes with a deep sense of sadness and nostalgia for all the amazing experiences we have shared.

However, the Warhammer Age of Sigmar events will be continued at the quality you know and love under the expert jurisdiction of Tom and Jeffrey, and the "Threshold Tactics" name. Warhammer The Old World events will tag along with them, together with the great dedication of Stefan Noordzij.

For our scheduled events in 2024, these will be organised as normal. This means that the Warhammer 40K Grand Tournament in November will be the last event under our name. (So make sure you’re there!) Also, the Whatsapp community will remain as it is.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your passion, camaraderie, and unwavering support have been the backbone of our success. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and the lasting impact we have made on the Warhammer community in the Netherlands and beyond. Our sponsors also deserve a deep thanks: Tabletop Kingdom, Baron of Dice, The Army Painter, Gamemat.eu, Kromlech, Puppetswar and ProPainted Studios. And let’s not forget our good friend Taco for the best pairing software in the world: Punpun.nl! And let’s absolutely not forget our Patrons who have supported us through the good times and the bad, and who have made so many things possible that otherwise would have been out of our reach!

While this chapter is coming to an end this year, we are confident that the community will continue to thrive. We encourage you to carry forward the spirit of friendship, competition, and creativity that has defined our events.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. We will always cherish the memories we have made together, and let’s make the Alliance Open Team Championship in September and the Warhammer 40K Grand Tournament in November count!

With deepest gratitude,

The Tabletop Alliance Team

Pieter, Martijn, Tim, Tom, Jeffrey, Stefan and Dennie
